ROWE LOOKING TO GAIN GROUND ON PRO MOD TITLE IN VIRGINIA

(10-09-2009) DINWIDDIE, Virginia – Just 57 points out of first place, Danny Rowe, who is currently third in the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge points standings, understands the long-running implications of his performance this weekend at the NHRA Virginia Nationals all too well. Having been in tightly contested championship battles for the last three seasons consecutively, Rowe knows the pitfalls of looking beyond the task at hand and will continue to utilize the Sterling Bridge Pro Mod team’s one round at a time theology this weekend – as it has served them well all season.

“It’s coming down to the wire and I feel we’ve done a pretty good job of staying where we need to be,” said Rowe, checking in from his home in Laguna Hills, California. “We’ve got to keep our focus, and stick to the round-by-round frame of mind. I don’t think we should be looking past this weekend, we just have to look as every round win getting us one step closer to our ultimate goal.”

One of 10 stops on the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge tour, Virginia Motorsports Park is well known for its ability to produce record setting performances and considering the weather forecast for this upcoming early October weekend, both fans and racers alike are in for a show.

Danny Rowe“Richmond is a great place to race, and it’s going to be exciting to see the race unfold as there is already a lot on the line in the points chase – the performances we sill will only sweeten the pot. We all know this racetrack can produce some incredible numbers, so I’m confident we’re going to see some amazing racing.”

For years now, Rowe has utilized a potent combination of first-class people to propel his race team to the front of the pack. This weekend in Virginia, Rowe’s 2008 teammate will return to the fold to help the team gain precious data.

“Perhaps more than anything else, I want to thank our sponsors for supporting us going into this championship chase,” said Rowe. “From Sterling Bridge to Hottinger Group and General Plumbing for adding a second car for this weekend. We have Kirk Kuhns driving our ’68 Pontiac Firebird this weekend, trying to lend us a helping hand with the points chase. We’re very excited about this as we know it’s a great car and we feel the extra data will help us. There are a lot of multi-car teams ahead of us, and we’re trying to even the odds.”

There’s no denying, though, that the tuning ability of Jimmy Rector has been paramount in Rowe’s run at the world championship in 2009. The tireless efforts of this veteran crew-chief and his Pro Modified ensemble have been apparent from the first race of the season, and Rowe wouldn’t want anyone else in his corner going into the late rounds of the season.

“I have to say, I’m glad that Jimmy Rector is on my side of this whole thing. I can’t say enough about Jimmy and the whole crew this year. We’ve had one of the fastest cars out there all season, and I’m confident he’ll provide us with a winning combination this weekend. I’m lucky to have him on my side, and Jimmy is not only a great tuner, but also a great friend.”
